PPP's New Year's Resolutions - The End of an Error

Tomorrow we all start a new year, 2009. I think there are many of us out there that think collectively it can't get any worse than 2008 so it must be a better year ahead. Quite frankly I just heard when I get up tomorrow my cable tv may not be carrying some of my favorite channels, for instance Comedy Central may be off the air along with twenty other channels unless TimeWarner and Viacom come to an agreement. If that happens it means a year without "The Stephen Colbert Show" or "The Daily Show". On the up side it means no more of "The Hills" on MTV (proud to say I have never watched "The Hills"). Since MTV doesn't really show music videos anymore I say good riddance, but where am I to get my daily dose of sarcastic humor? I guess I will have to stay up late to watch Triumph the Insult Dog on Conan. Since Conan is moving to Jay's slot, I think if I nap more in the middle of the day I can stay up that late.

We have many things to look forward to in 2009. We have a new president who will take office in a few weeks. A president that is smart, popular around the world, has great ideas and is determined to correct the mistakes of his predecessor. Truly the end of an error! I am a true believer in positive thinking and I think that after a awhile with President Obama we will find our old sense of pride and can-do attitude that makes us Americans so admired around the world return to us. Once the attitude becomes positive, the world will become a more positive place to live in. It will take awhile but I think we are on the verge of an age of enlightenment or a Renaissance, however things may get worse before they get better. But enough of that! The PPP is no messenger of doom and gloom, it's a vessel for a male Maltese dog and his many racing thoughts.

For the year 2009 I hope to use the PPP to make the world (or my few followers) aware of the issues that are important to me. I want the PPP to be a voice for those who have no voice in this world. That means animals, children, the environment and those living in extreme poverty and war. Sure I will break it up a little with moments of gossip and fashion (as those topics are important to the PPP since we are a lover of the high and low).

For the year 2009, my mom and I will start a campaign we have had on our minds since Q-Ball was killed. We want to have better signage in our parks so what happened to Q-Ball will not happen to any other dog (or human). Actually if I was to take it to another level I would like the campaign to involve all bicyclists in New York City as going for a walk is dangerous on a daily basis for me and my mom. We have near-misses everyday we take a walk from the restaurant delivery guys. However we will start with the parks. So that is one of my resolutions for this year. It will be our way to make Q-Ball's memory stay on and honor her death.

Another resolution is that mom and me are thinking maybe somewhere down the line we may add to our happy family and make it a threesome again. We are thinking of adopting a rescue dog. Now no other dog can ever replace Q-Ball but another dog can definitely add to our lives. This is still in the first stages so when we know better, we will let you know. I just hope I stay the Alpha Dog as now that I have gotten a taste of how it feels to be the top honcho, I'm not letting go. It will be nice to have the company when mom is out and about.

My last New Year's resolution for 2009 (besides trying to gain a little weight) is to just enjoy the now. See where 2009 takes me and my mommy. She is in for some big changes this year and where ever she goes, I go so we are going to enjoy the adventure and try to be grateful for all we have. We have lots to be grateful for; our health, our friends and family, food in my tummy, a roof over my head, nice sweaters on my back. I am excited to have a fresh new start. Sad that Q-ball won't be with us. Anyway, we have to leave this apartment in a few months so we could wind up anywhere on this planet and I think that is exciting (unless it is Astoria, then that would suck).

So I hope you enjoy your New Year's Eve celebration tonight and to remember to not drink and drive. I am not feeling well today so my mommy is thinking of staying in and taking care of me. She is not crazy about going out tonight and the weather is crappy outside (I am encouraging her to do so as celebrating a certain moment in time really has no relevance to me).

I and everyone at the PPP wish you a Happy New Year and may your hopes, dreams, wishes and goals for 2009 are realized. Chow for now!

The Year of the Dog - 2008

Today I am going to post on the year 2008 for me and try to genuflect about what I learned this year and how it has made me the dog I am today.

Early this year, I was starting to learn about boundaries and staying close to my mother. I learned to listen to her and her commands (she was watching marathons of "The Dog Whisperer" and learned a thing or two). This actually gave me more freedom in my life as my mom started to trust Q-Ball and me to walk without our leashes when we went to a park. Mom knows this is what makes us happy and we just got more and more freedom and adventure in our lives (by adventure I mean chasing city squirrels).

Another big change this year was mom's working situation. She was working in a job that exhausted her mentally and made her a little bit grumpy when she arrived home. Q-Ball and I had to work hard to get her to smile and cheer her up when she was home from work. Q-Ball would always do her flapper dance and I would jump and spin in the air to show her how happy we were to see her and have her home with us. We miss her so much when she leaves for work. Well, this year she was laid off and instead of getting sad about it, it made mommy more mellow as the stress in her life was lessen. Q-Ball and I got the added bonus of having our mommy around more and spending more time outside. Mommy had started a jewelry line at the beginning of the year so now she had the time to really work on it and learn how it feels to work from home. We loved it and I know she loves working with us around.

We had a great summer spending lots of time outside in the park with occasional trips to the beach. Mom was happy and showered us with affection constantly. We spent a lot of quality time together. Q-Ball and I would occasionally change spots that we liked to hang out in the apartment to make our own. Mom finally fixed the second bedroom and made a nice closet/storage space out of it so Q-Ball would hang out and lay on mom's shoes for her alone time. I made the little entry hall my space to hang. Central Park is nearby so we went on a daily basis to CP and developed our own little rituals. Mom got a big kick out of this as she loves seeing us happy and out exploring the world. We always stopped to realize how lucky we were as we looked at the skyline of Manhattan every night knowing many dogs around the world would love to be in our place. We lived in the Upper East Side next to Central Park, we had a mommy that loved us and made us a priority in her life and we got to go on many wonderful adventures with her.

However I learned in 2008 that sometimes a good thing must come to an end. This was especially true in the beginning of September, September 7th to be exact, when we lost our Q-Ball. I am not going to go into the details of the story as it is still hard to recount but on that day in one of our wonderful walks around the Great Lawn in Central Park, Q-Ball was hit by a bicyclist on the walkway (he was not allowed to ride his bike on the walkway and Q-Ball and I were allowed to be off our leash since it was after 9pm). Just moments before this happened, Q-Ball did one of her crazy runs toward my mother with her tongue hanging out making us all laugh, then the next moment tragedy strikes us. The man who did it didn't even stop, he just yelled back at my mom. "They should have been on a leash!" I circled my mom as she was on the ground holding Q-Ball not knowing what to do. I didn't know what to do either, I started to go crazy too. Luckily many good people came to our rescue including the NYPD who rushed us to the animal hospital but alas our beautiful Q-Ball was gone. I didn't know what was happening, all I know was that Q-Ball was lying there still and my mother was hysterical. I didn't know what was going to happen to me.

At the hospital my Uncle Adrian, Papa and Aunty Annie came to see us and they made sure to take care of me and make sure I wasn't scared and alone anymore. Seeing Q-Ball buried the next day was scary too as I didn't understand what was happening and I thought I was next to be put in the ground so I disappeared for awhile. My mom found me and we went home. That was the day we started our life without Q-Ball. You have to understand, except for me being sick and staying at the vet for 2 days, Q-Ball has always been with me since we were little puppies. Our whole family dynamics have changed. As much as Q-Ball and I would fight (because she was the alpha dog) I loved her so much as she is and will always be my soul mate.

The last few months of the year have rushed by and I have been the recipient of much love and attention by my mother and those who love us. I am happy that mom still works from home as I am not sure how I feel about being alone for so long. I know she is concerned about me being lonely, she doesn't like to see me sad. Q-Ball was such a ham and I was the more quiet dog so now I have learned to get out from behind my shadow and be the center of attention which was not easy for me.

The holidays have brought a lot of fun, love and attention to me. Writing this post has given me a raison de d'etre which we all need in life, not just humans. The more I write this post, the more ideas I get and I really want to make something positive come of The Powder Puffington Post. I have discovered the power of the post (as I got almost all the things I wanted on my Christmas list)! Stay tune for my next post as I will list how I intend to make a difference in this world for 2009! Chow for now!

Movies for the Holiday Season

It being the holiday season, many of us are off from work or school and besides taking in the post holiday sales, this is a time of year where many of us like to take advantage of the many movies coming out before the end of the year (so they can contend for an Oscar).

Back in the 1930's when the world experienced the Great Depression, the movies were the way that people escaped from their problems. It even brought on the great Hollywood Musicals where large doses of optimism and fantasy scenes helped Americans think that one day things will be good again. Well now with our current economy on a down swing Americans are once again flooding to movie theaters to forget their troubles and Hollywood has turned to dogs as the new stars of the screen. This year we have seen such movies as "Beverly Hills Chihuahua", "Bolt", "Wendy and Lucy", "Hotel for Dogs" and the top grossing movie for this Christmas is "Marley and Me", a story about a white Labrador retriever and the adventures he brings to his family. Hollywood is realizing in these hard times that movie goers don't necessarily want to see a big block buster movie with lots of violence. Movie goers are wanting "comfort movies" the same way they would eat "comfort food" during difficult times and this means story lines that include the love of a good dog. I for one understand that line of thinking. It's about time!

While I am not allowed in movie theaters (I get my movies from DVD's and TV's) I do like to hear from my family and friends on what are their movie recommendations. I discuss their recommendations with my mommy and then we make a list for all our friends to see. Movies are very expensive in New York City so we like to make sure if a movie is bad that you are not wasting your money. I will divide the movie recommendations in two sections; paws up for good movies and paws down for no so great movies.

PAWS UP!
- Marley and Me: Although some of the people I know who have seen this movie did not like it because they said it wasn't funny at all and they wouldn't recommend it, I as a dog have to recommend it as I am looking for doggy advertisers for my blog. Can't bite the hand that feeds you :)
- Slumdog Millionaire: Okay I was tricked about this movie as I thought it was about a rich dog from the slums but it is a movie about a poor young man from India who is on the verge of winning a large jackpot based on his ability to answer questions correctly on a game show and how authorities think he is cheating because he grew up in poverty. Everyone we know who saw this movie said it was their favorite movie this year.
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: This movie is based on a short story from F.Scott Fitzgerald about a baby born an old man and as time goes on, the younger he becomes. It also has a love story attached to it so me and mom are into that because we are both romantics at heart (plus it's Brad Pitt - my mommy made me type that).
- Milk: I thought it was a story about the history of cows but it's about gay rights. My mommy and Uncle Adrian went to see this movie and they both raved about it as it a really relevant story about Harvey Milk (the first openly gay elected politician in USA) and gay rights. They said Sean Penn was top notch.
- Frost/Nixon: This sounds like a real yawn to me but my mom has always had a crush on Frank Langella who plays Richard Nixon being interviewed by David Frost after he resigned from his Watergate scandal. The story and acting is superb.
- Revolutionary Road: Another good movie about a topic that has nothing to do with me. A couple marry in the fifties and find themselves being molded into what society expects from them as a married couple instead of the ideas they had when they first got together as a couple. A downer yes, but well done.
- Valkyrie: Although mom intends to see this movie because it is based on Aunty April's boyfriend's family, I hear Tom Cruise is the weak link in this movie that otherwise has been well done and well acted by the other actors.

Some other good choices are "Doubt", "The Reader" and "The Spirit" (for escapism).

PAWS DOWN:
- The Day the Earth Stood Still: One would think Keanu Reeves would excel in a movie where he plays a robot. Heck, sounds to me like he just has to phone this one in but I heard from everyone who saw it that they hated it.
- Four Christmases: Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, need I say more? My grandma saw this movie and hated it (and she always gives movies a chance).
- Seven Pounds: I don't know what this movie is about but JB had to email everyone from Brazil to warn us against going to this movie so I will consider myself warned and pass the good karma onto you.

So that's my picks for holiday seasonal movies. Don't say I didn't warn you! Chow for now!

Those Crazy Rivera's!

I just returned from Allentown, PA where the Rivera’s celebrated a belated Christmas.

We started out by going to my Aunt Angie’s home in Easton, PA (yes, the same Easton, PA where little three year old Adolph Hitler Campbell lives). My Aunt Angie and Uncle Chris had their Victorian home decorated with lots of red bows all over the bushes and trees. It was nicer than their neighbor’s homes that were covered from head to toe in lights. My Aunt Angie’s in-laws (the Finan’s) were coming over for the day so we just did a quick visit there to drop off our gifts. Papa gave all his sisters necklaces from the Natalie Rivera Jewelry line and Aunt Angie loved hers and immediately put them on. They did look pretty on her. Mommy gave her earrings and Cousin Terry and Cousin Erin got the Ariel necklaces. Everyone seemed to be really happy with their gifts so we took off and left to visit Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Jovino’s grave site. My Aunt Angie decorated the grave site with some Poinsettia’s and wreaths. Mom and I took some extra time to think of Q-Ball and remember her spirit this Christmas.

We then headed off to Allentown to visit my Aunt Juanita. There all the Rivera’s congregated from four states. I had cousins coming out of the wazoo! Everyone was really nice to me and took the time to tell me how much they missed Q-Ball and let me know how much they loved me. Mommy kept on showing any new member who walked in how I looked in my new argyle sweater and scarf. My Aunt Juanita loved her jewelry and told mommy it was the first time someone gave her jewelry as a gift and she loved it. That made mommy feel happy and you know what happens when mommy feels happy, we all feel happy! The whole family was very supportive of the jewelry line, for some reason mommy didn’t tell her family about her business venture this year?? Perhaps she thought her dad would let them know. I don’t know. Uncle David said that Dad was very proud of mommy's jewelry line and that made mommy happy as she definitely would always like to know her daddy is proud of her. Papa said he would be prouder when we turn a profit and we all laughed and agreed (as she is the woman putting food in my bowl). Cousin Nick offered to built mom’s website from scratch as he had lots of ideas so mom was jazzed (insert jazz hands here).

OMG! The food was sooo good at the Rivera’s this year. I was only able to eat the pork shoulder but everyone was stuffing themselves with Spanish rice, lasagna, baccalo (codfish salad) and pasteles (a meat pie with vegetable crust). Mom didn’t see but everyone at the table was sneaking me food from underneath the table. If I had bad manners before you should see me now ☺

I got lots of gifts and gift certificates for pet toys but I would really like to just buy treats instead of toys. We had a great time seeing the crazy Rivera's and catching up on family news which in a nutshell was: Jennifer is pregnant and due in the summer. Nick got a good job and is working just outside Philadelphia at a graphics firm. We met his very pretty girlfriend Keegan today and she got inducted into the Rivera Hall of Shame. Steven is becoming an artist (Mom and I actually liked his work). Steven has a nice boyfriend too. His name is Alex, he is still a student and designs bags. Ryan is going to Apex to learn how to repair air-conditioners and refrigerators, his brother is joining the Army to learn how to fix helicopters. Aunt Angie just got diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis; Uncle Jesse gained weight and looked much healthier than at our last family gathering. Uncle Jay was traveling without his woman Betsy (he did a great job with the pork shoulder!), Terry as usual had her hands full with Aidan, Eliza was almost as cute as me, I can go on.

Everyone kept on telling my mom she looked really healthy which she immediately mistook for looking fat so I am expecting to see the trampoline pulled out of the closet as she belongs to the school of “you could never be too rich or too skinny”. If she had my nervous metabolism she would be much more skinnier but that’s the problem when you are too mellow.

When we left to go home I snuggled in the backseat of the car with mom. She hugged me to her and said. “I hope you know how much you are loved PP”. I nuzzled my nose to her and closed my eyes hoping that she knew that I did know. Yup! I’m just a sentimental sappy pup around the holidays! Chow for now!

Wow! What a Christmas!

I PP now know the power of the press! I sent my wishes to the universe and boy did they come back to me (my mom is still hoping for the holiday in the Caribbean so let's see if that happens). I got to see Levi, Lupe, Rebecca and Uncle Adrian. It was great to see everyone for our Christmas Brunch as mom made her famous Eggs Benedict (I got some Canadian bacon on the side). I got lots of gifts from Levi and Lupe, including the snazzy scarf and argyle sweater I wished for (thanks Santa!!).

After brunch Mom and I made our way to Brooklyn as Uncle Adrian was cooking up a traditional English Christmas day dinner (on the train everyone was remarking on my scarf, "Hey, that dog is wearing a scarf!". Uncle Adrian made an amazing turkey with chestnut stuffing, parsnips, carrots, Brussels sprouts, English sausage, homemade cranberry sauce and pearl onions. I was lucky enough to get the scraps and boy they were yummy. My mom's stomach kept growing and growing, she even had to unbutton her pants! Then they had mincemeat pie with real brandybutter! I was licking my lips but they wouldn't let me have any. Mom says it's too sweet for my stomach and the alcohol content was too high as she thinks I am too young to get sloshed by eating desert. That didn't stop her or Uncle Adrian. Me wonders if it was the turkey or the alcohol ladden desert that made them pass out after dinner?

After dinner we opened our gifts and boy did I hit jackpot! I got loads of food and the most beautiful red dog carrier bag! My mom was so excited for this gift as she thinks it makes us both look good. I loved it and immediately started camping out in the bag. It's my home away from home. Santa was really good to me this year! My Uncle Adrian was feeling a little homesick this year not being in England with his family so I got him some English treats and tea so he could feel better. We were all happy. Then we sat down to watch the "Assassination of Jesse James" and immediately proceeded to past out from the turkey (see pic above).

Today mommy took me out in our brand new bag downtown to meet with Lupe, Levi and Delphine to do some after Christmas shopping. I was happy to be part of the crowd. They even managed to sneak me into a restaurant while they ate, it's whole new world. That bag is magic!

Well, I hope you all had a great Christmas! I know everyone has been concerned with the economy but it really shouldn't stop us from enjoying ourselves and appreciating the people in our lives. I woof you man! Chow for now!

Merry Christmas!!

After spending the night at Uncle Adrian's because we did not have heat at our place (we do now), we are getting ready to celebrate Christmas Eve today. Mom is going to Trinity Church down on Wall Street to meet up with some friends as she always does when she is having Christmas in New York. She is getting ready to host a brunch tomorrow for her friends so we are getting the house in order. I am excited for Santa to come and I will go to my dog bed tonight dreaming of the possible gifts I will receive from my family and friends. I am a little sad because I realize this is the first Christmas without Q-Ball so tonight my mom and I are going to light a candle in her honor.

Mom and I consider ourselves more spiritual than religious. Christmas for us means when you take the time to appreciate the people around you and honor your relationships with them. It's also the time to honor your relationship with your higher being whatever you chose to call that being.

So while mom and I decorate the house for Christmas I am going to take this time to thank all of you in my life. People say I have a dog's life and I do, it's a good one and for that I am thankful. I am going to take tomorrow off from posting so I hope you all have a great holiday, I wish you a Merry Christmas and I just want to let you know I woof u!! I hope Santa gives you all you want this year. Chow for now!

Oh Baby it's Cold Outside! (And Inside)

You are getting your post today from one chilly dog (and I don't mean the delicious kind). Mommy and me are freezing our little butts (well I can only speak for my butt on that matter) as we have very little heat today and it is sooo cold today in New York. We barely slept last night as we were cuddled up all night shivering. We feel like we are sleeping in the ice castle from "Dr.Zhivago". This is not good for warm blooded tropical creatures such as my mom and me! So luckily we are going to Uncle Adrian's house for a day or two to thaw out.

So hopefully tomorrow I can write a longer more profound post for Christmas eve as right now my paws are frozen and I am in a bitter cold mood. Chow for now!

The Economy and the Sad Trickle Down Affects

I lead a pretty insular life. I have a roof over my head, food in my tummy, a mommy who loves me and takes care of me and provides lots of cuddles, tummy-rubbings and weird outfits. So really it's only when I surf the web and read the articles on the bad economy and how it affects our society, I start to thank the universe that I am a very lucky dog.

Animal shelters have been reporting that they are at full capacity and even turning away animals who are being returned because people can no longer afford to feed and keep them. This isn't about people who buy or adopt pets on a whim, this is about people who have had their beloved pets for years! This is scary as half of those animals will not be adopted and will have to be euthanized. That is very sad! My mother assures me that I am with her for the rest of my life and I will eat before she eats as I am her pet child, so I can only imagine how hard it is for people to give up the pets they love and have taken care of for years. My grandma says that these are people with kids or the elderly as when your pet is your only real companion people do their best to keep their pets. She is a social worker and she sees many homeless people with pets who take care of them and do not get rid of them even though their financial circumstances are dire.

So if you think you have room in your home and heart to adopt a pet this holiday or the coming new year, please do! The love you will get back will be more than worth it. I know times are hard, but if are not destitute, have the time please adopt. I will also gladly give up all the gifts I asked for and ask that you donate to the Humane Society or ASPCA. You can donate at their websites:

www.aspca.org
www.hsus.org

My mommy is feeling better today thanks to my nursing her back to health (and her not going out for once) so hopefully we will start having longer walks (although it is freezing here today in New York City). Well, Mom and I are going to figure out how to decorate the house for our Christmas brunch later this week so I have leave now. I hope everyone is done with their Christmas shopping, there are lots of sales out there. For those of you who have left for the holidays are about to leave for skiing or a warmer climate, I am sooo envious! However Christmas in New York is quite special so we can't complain. Chow for now!

To Settle or Not to Settle? That is the Question

Today's post will be short as my mommy is sick and I don't want to be away from her too long as she needs some cuddles and TLC so she can feel better. The weather outside is not helping as we have had sleet and snow for the last few days and I am bouncing off the walls here in our small apartment. I am hoping she gets better soon so we can at least run up and down the stairs so I can release some of my high strung energy.

Today's topic is about settling. With all this down time in the last few days with my mommy, we have been discussing the concept of settling. She has told me that all her life people have pushed her to settle. Settle for certain schools, safe careers and most of all settle for love. She said it made her more rebellious and determined to see her goals through even more. She said she always felt different as a child from the rest of her family as pertaining to what she wanted in life. Being a voracious reader also made her see the world outside her neighborhood and want more in life. She wanted great friends, exciting creative work, travels all around the world and most of all a soul mate love. All of her decisions have been to attain these goals. I have been snipped from an early age so I have to try really hard to imagine doggie soul mate love. I guess Q-Ball is the closest I have ever come to that.

When you have people who love you, sometimes they want to make sure you are safe and well guarded in this world. Sometimes their ideas for you are very practical and though they really mean well for you, it's just not you and you know you would not be a happy pup if you follow their suggestions. Mommy told me when she did settle for certain things in life it all backfired and didn't work any way. I think that is the universe helping push you toward your real goals and passions. My mommy and I decided to just not settle in any areas of our lives now. We will be cautious and practical when we can but when it comes to the big picture we are going for our dreams and goals. No settling for us. If that means it's just us from now on and we have to have lifestyle changes to live this life then let it be. My mommy and I want to be happy and we know we deserve the best because we are a good team. She is a good mommy and I am a sweet, lovable, smart, handsome dog. When you don't settle you don't have regrets. So we are reaffirming our goals for this coming new year to follow our passions and goals and not to settle. What does this mean to a small Maltese? I don't know but I will figure it out day by day.

Well, gotta go now as my mommy is now curled up on her couch and it is not looking too good for her. Male Maltese Nurse Powder Puff to the rescue with my cuddles! Chow for now!

It's a Day for Staying In!

This cold rainy/snowy weather has left me stranded in our apartment today. I am definitely having a case of small apartment fever. A fever would actually be welcomed as that at least would give me some warmth. There seems to be little or no heat in our apartment today. I am having difficulty typing this post today as I am curled in a ball. Mom is still in her jammies and her big fluffy blue robe. We aren't going anywhere today.

I had a delicious meal today of cold chicken that my mommy got from her dinner last night at her dentist's home. Gil and his lovely wife Joyce made my mommy and Uncle Adrian a beautiful dinner in their lovely home on Sutton Place with a beautiful view of the East River. My mommy said it was definitely worth going out on such a sleet filled night as the dinner, it's host, the company, the apartment and the art collection was well worth the effort (and I got the left-overs!).

Our apartment is a mess so we are going to take advantage of staying in and clean the place as my mommy's jewelry beads and supplies are all over the place. We are hosting a Christmas day brunch so we have to actually finally get some holiday decorations up. I sent my Christmas list to the universe, let's see what happens, although I just found this pet observation dome on the internet. I don't know how I can use it living in an apartment but I know I want it (see picture).

Mommy and me are going to take it easy this weekend and she is doing very little socializing as she has been out everyday this past week (she is feeling a little under the weather as all the holiday partying have caught up with her). Oh well! That means more mommy for me :) We are going to relax, I am going to watch her drink hot chocolate, we are going to meditate and think about what we want to do or change in the next year (I'm thinking longer walks and more meat products). So it will be a reflective weekend for us full of Sex in the City DVD's. It's OK, I am a metrosexual dog (if you couldn't tell from my wardrobe). So I hope you all are relaxing and getting that final Christmas shopping done (I am a size small). Chow for now!

A Little Gossip with your Bone?

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but inside it's so delightful. As long as we have no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

What a morning! After a whole week of not much sleep because I have been waiting up for my mommy to get home from her Christmas socializing (I can't sleep until I know she is home and safe) I am feeling a little tired and run down. Although the snow outside is pretty, it means I am stuck in my apartment and will come down with a good old-fashioned case of...SMALL APARTMENT FEVER!! Mayor Michael Bloomberg is on the news now giving telling people in Spanish about the snowstorm but his Spanish pronunciation is so bad that no Hispanics will know about the snow storm (unless they happen to look outside the window). Which leads me in my boredom to search the web for some good gossip for you. See, my loss is your gain.

First gossip post: right near where my mommy was having dinner last night, Jennifer Aniston and her boyfriend singer John Mayer were promoting her upcoming movie, I mean going to dinner at La Esquina. The gossip blogs have a good name for relationships like this, they call it a "showmance" meaning two celebrities get together and pretend to have a romance going so they can generate publicity for their upcoming movie/tour. Although Hollywood has been doing this for decades, it is now considered an art form how celebrities manipulate the media. Then they dare complain about the lack of privacy in their lives! We in this household are Team Jolie, we like Brad and Angelina and think Jennifer Aniston is boring, whining and a media martyr. At least B&A are trying to make the world a better place to be.

In promoting her next movie, "The Spirit" it seems as Scarlett Johanson's famous ta ta's were missing! A picture without Scarlett's boobies not hitting her chin has hit the internet. Does this mean she has been relying on a pushup bra the whole time? I am going to tell my mom that there is hope for her yet!

In the realm of strange news this week, a baby who was thought to have a tumor growing in his brain was actually growing a perfectly formed foot and part of the small intestines inside his brain. This is what is called a teratomas which means a fetal twin starts developing inside your body. This case was unusual as the foot was perfectly formed when it was removed and it was growing in the brain. Luckily the baby is doing fine now. Strange but true!! I wonder if this ever happens to doggies? Imagine a dog head popping out of your armpit! LOL!

In funny celebrity news, actor Jeremy Piven pulled out of doing David Mamet's play, "Speed the Plow" using the excuse of "mercury poisoning" for dropping out of the play. David Mamet seeing this as ridiculous as "the dog ate my homework" excuse released the following statement: :"I talked to Jeremy on the phone and he told me that he discovered that he had a very high level of mercury. So my understanding is that he is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer." LOL! Thanks David for calling out Jeremy on his diva like behavior and poor excuse for not finishing up the play. I like when people get called out for their bad behavior. My excuse for my bad behavior is "Hey, I'm a dog and the jute rug smells like grass to me!"

But perhaps the best gossip of the week is that Sarah Palin's daughter's soon to be mother-in-law was arrested in a drug bust this week and now faces six felony charges! Whoa Nelly! Sarah Palin just keeps giving and giving. Sarah Palin's response so far has been: "This is not a state government matter. Therefore the governor's communications staff will not be providing comment or scheduling interview opportunities." I don't think we are really surprised any more when it comes to Governor Sarah Palin and her family's issue. As my mommy likes to say, "Governor Palin, your family needs you more than your country!"

Oh well, I am going to cut it short today as I see my mommy has to run some errands so I am going to have some quality time with her (translation: stare at her as she takes a shower) before she leaves and goes out in the snow. I know she is wishing she could stay snuggling with me but a mommy's got to do what a mommy's got to do. Chow for now!

What is in a Name?

Boy have I been waiting forever to write on this topic! My name is Powder Puff. I was named because if you saw my cute puppy pictures you would see what looks like a powder puff with two black eyes and a nose. My mommy named me after what she thought I looked like. Q-Ball, my sister, was named by my "biological" father Klaus who thought Q-Ball looked like a white billiard ball since she would scamper from room to room bumping into walls and rolling back in a white fluffy ball.

My poor mom has to hear almost on a daily basis comments about the choice of names for her dogs (or now dog as it's just me). Sure, mom didn't give us typical dog names like; Rex, Spot or Snoopy but my mom is not your typical lady. She is a creative being. Q-Ball and I also were not your typical dogs. We live in New York City and have had a charmed life with a mommy who has loved us very much and wanted always the best for us. We are not pets to her, we are her luvs. Sometimes she thinks if she had given us a more traditional name it would have been easier on her, but she does not regret her choices. Also I get a lot of gruff for having such a girly girly name. Q-Ball's name received some comments as her name was quite butch for such a beautiful princess dog. This is how our names came to be. For some reason both my mom and Father Klaus could not tell if we were a girl or boy dog. They did guess but they guessed wrong. My mom said it was because we both were covered with so much hair that it was confusing. I know when you hear this you roll your eyes and think to yourself, "Um, duh! Anyone can figure that out!" But mind you my mom and Father Klaus (a man with a PhD and TWO law degrees) did not figure it out. By the time the vet let them know they had confused our genders my mom thought it would be too confusing to change our names (we had been with her for only three days by then) and she did name us for what she thought we represented so the names stayed in the picture.

Sometimes my mom's friends are embarrassed to say our names in public, but hey that's their problem not mine. Once while Q-ball and I were on the beach in Amangansett, we decided to be naughty and make a break for it to run around like crazy on the beach. My mom's friend Jonathan Bell went running after us. He didn't say anything while chasing us. As he came back to mom with two frisky puppies in his arm, he huffed, "I just couldn't yell out, 'Powder Puff! Q-Ball!'" So he had to chase after us for awhile! Silly!! My Uncle Adrian is okay with saying our names now. Oh well, he is a metrosexual. They are known for being quite open. What is important is that we were named with love.

However some people are not quite so fortunate. They are named with traces of hate. In the news recently some white supremacists in Easton, PA (umm, I will be visiting Easton, PA soon for the holidays as there are some Rivera's there) were offended when the local ShopRite did not want to write their child's name on his birthday cake. What is his name you ask? It's Adolf Hitler Campbell! WTF!! They named him after Hitler because they thought he would have a very original name. What ever happened to naming your child after fruit for originality? I think Princess KaKa Head is original but I wouldn't name my puppies it. Why would you do that to your child whom you claim to love? These parents should have had their child taken away from them after naming their child Adolf Hitler as they obviously did not have the child's well being and his future in mind. Now I am a cute, cuddly doggy who really spends most of his day thinking how many treats I can get out of my mother and how many naps I can sneak in before noon, but this raises the hair on my body as I PP rarely have such strong opinions (ok, I have at least one strong opinion a day and I tend to post those on this blog).

Well, the parents of this child had the nerve to whine about ShopRite refusing to do the cake order (Walmart had no problem with the cake order) so they went to the press. They claim they don't hate people of other races, religions and cultures they just don't want to mix with them. This couple also has two other children with unfortunate names; JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell. I would be afraid if I was this couple because I am guessing in a couple of years when these kids grow up the parents are going to wake up one day surrounded by the flames their children will set in the middle of the night to their bedroom for being such awful parents who let their children be the target of every schoolyard bully, terminal unemployment and the general contempt of society. These children are either going to be serial killers or convert to Buddhism and become disciples of peace. I don't know about this world. Most everyday I think it's a great little world I live in and then I read this and want to nap for 23 hours straight. Oh well! I actually hope one day these people will recognize the error of their ways and make it better and by changing their son's name to Obama Apricot Campbell. One can only hope. I leave you with a picture of the offensive couple and their unfortunate child.

Well, on a much lighter note, my mommy went to a masquerade party last night (I wasn't invited as there would be too many people and the chances of being crushed were quite high) and she had a great time (she picture of the hosts above). She came back at 4am! The little hussy!! (I kid mommy!). Anyway after the party she went salsa dancing at Plan B with some friends and really improved her salsa dancing because she had a good dancing partner. Whenever she wears those Kate Spade gold shoes she seems to have a good time. I was happy for her. I stayed home and watched a marathon of Law and Order. Quality stuff! Happily my mom woke up without a hangover (which really puts a dent in my day when she does) and we hit the ground running today. We have lots to do for the next few days leading to Christmas and we are excited as tomorrow there will be a nice snowstorm coming our way to really make it feel like Christmas. Oh well, that was a long post today so I am going to end now and take a nice nap. But before I leave I will leave you with a cute kitty video. You heard of SNL's "Dick in a Box", well here we have "Pussy in a Box". Literally. Chow for now!

Doggy Fashion

I decided today to post on doggy fashion as it is near Christmas and my mom and I have been hitting the shops looking for my Christmas outfit. I have my eye on some cashmere sweaters, please let my mommy know as she has been looking at argyle for me and I don't know if I can pull off argyle. So I am posting some pictures of doggy fashion that I really like and fans of the PPP have been sending in.

Mommy and me are about to be out and about as she has a busy day today getting out jewelry orders for Christmas (www.nrjewelry.com) then she has to dye her hair (every two weeks, she is fighting the good fight of not going gray) and then she will don a pretty dress and mask for a masquerade party tonight. I am going to pick out her dress tonight and search the web for a sexy hairdo for her, I'm thinking a brunette Bridgette Bardot. She relies on my opinion being the main male in her life. Oops, I just tooted and mom gave me a shocked looked, sorry mom, I couldn't help myself!! Chow for now.

10 Ridiculous Reasons to Return Your Pet

The longer I live in this world the more I realize just how lucky I am. I have been a part of a family that has always loved, cherished and welcomed me into their lives. They would not even THINK about getting rid of me as we are all one and share the same heart and hearth. That is why I am so shocked to hear from animal shelters the ridiculous reasons why people return the pets they bought or adopted. Here are just a few:

:: "My dog doesn't match the sofa."
:: "The dog looks evil and has different coloured eyes, just like David Bowie."
:: "My black dog doesn't match new white carpet, can we swap him for a white dog?"
:: "My current dog is too old, can we swap for a puppy or younger model?"
:: "My dog ate the Christmas turkey cooling on the worktop."
:: "My pet guinea pig got worried with a dog in the house."
:: "The dog opened all the presents on Christmas Eve."
:: An owner who accidentally knelt in dog mess while cleaning it up brought the dog in the very next day.
:: A puppy bought as a present for elderly couple with dementia.
:: The negative image of Staffordshire Bull Terriers because of their perceived resemblance to Pit Bull-style dogs.

Can you believe people can be so heartless? Or don't take the time to consider the responsibility of owning a pet? Owning a pet is akin to having a child. My mommy always tells people who are considering adopting a pet about all the time, energy and money it will cost to own a pet. She believes we are well worth it as we are a source of unconditional love (very hard to find in humans these days). If you have the time it takes to train us properly, feed us, provide when we are sick and are looking for love, loyalty, laughter and companionship they I highly recommend you adopt a pet. However if you are on the go, travel a lot for business or pleasure, can't even afford a doctor for yourself, are constantly on a diet of ramen noodle, or think of pets as accessories then you probably are not ready to own a pet.

I know, we are quite cute and cuddily (especially when we are puppies and kittens) but just like children, we grow up and it takes work and respondsibiliy to raise us. So if you and anyone you know is looking to add a pet into your life, please have this discussion with them so we don't have to add another ridiculous reason to this list as to why a pet was returned to a shelter. Unlike that sweater you returned to the store last week, we face the possilbility of being put down when you return us. Why would anyone want that on their conscious?

On a much lighter note, I am happy to report that my mother's crush on Gerard Butler is officially over as she read this morning that he has been seen canoodling with Paris Hilton. YUCK!! I raised my non-existent eyebrows over the last few months whenever I read of him being linked up to various celebrity skanks but this was the last straw for both me and my mommy. I am happy that mommy is over him as I want my mommy to have a good man in her life (real or imaginary). Anyway she still has her crush on Stephen Colbert, Clive Owen and Javier Berdem to get her through the day (too bad they are either married or taken).

Chow for now!

I'm Worth the Fight (but don't fight)!

It has been brought to my attention that in the last few years pet ownership in divorce cases has become one hot topic. Some soon to be ex-spouses are shelling out as much as one hundred thousand dollars to their lawyers to make sure they retain custody of their pets. Forget who gets the couch or the car, its the pet that matters now.

Now I completely understand how this can come about. I am just a source of joy and love so it makes sense that if a couple is breaking up they would want to have me around to help heal their broken heart as I won't talk back or complain to them (actually I do but it is mistaken for incessant barking). When you are part of a group that really doesn't have a voice for themselves you are at the mercy of others and eventually the courts. That is why organizations such as ASPCA and the Humane Society are important to us doggies as they try to give us a voice as to how we want to be treated in this world. A nice Christmas gift to an animal lover would be a donation in their name to help us that can't help ourselves (although I think I have trained my mommy well in how I feel and what I think by my stares and tones of barks).

So if you are entering a relationship and you are either bringing a pet into your home or decide to get one while together it is important to discuss how to share custody just in case things don't work out. If you decide to marry, pet custody should be mentioned in the pre-nup (the PPP highly recommend pre-nups no matter how much money you have or don't have). This way just in case things don't work out, your pet's comfort was thought out in the good times not the bad times, so a pet tug-of-war will be highly unlikely.

I have been very lucky in this aspect as I still have a very good relationship with my mommy's ex. He is and continues to be the main male figure in my life and we still like to play and nap together. Whenever mommy needs to travel he let's me stay with him so I not lonely and scared. I love my Uncle Adrian and I am very happy he is still in my life. He was always very loving and accepting of both me and Q-Ball. It's not easy for such a manly man to walk down the street with two little white fur balls yelling out "Powder Puff, Q-Ball!". It takes a man with a strong sense of his masculinity and love for all beings to be comfortable with us small, cute lap dogs.

On a sad note, Sock's (former President Clinton's cat) is on her last legs with cancer. Socks you are in our thoughts and prayers as you were a great role model for presidential pets. Smoke a little catnip to help the pain Socks!!

I hope you liked my Christmas photo in my last post. I am going to leave you with some other Christmas doggie snapshots. They are not as lovely as my beloved Q-Ball but they still are quite cute. Chow for now!

Happy Holidays from the Powder Puffington Post!

Power Puff's Top Ten Christmas Gifts Requests

I was hoping for some cute Christmas picture of me for today's post but when my mom and I got to Central Park yesterday and she put me onto the Mad Tea Party sculpture wearing my Christmas outfit, our camera failed and the batteries went depleted! Something must be wrong with our digital camera as we go through a set of batteries a day. If anyone knows what we are doing wrong please let us know. Anyway today is a new day and we have a new set of batteries so let's see if "take two" will be a success.

Today I am listing "Power Puff's Top Ten Christmas Gifts Request" for those who love me and wonder. "What would make Powder Puff happy this Christmas??"

10. A gift certificate for wee wee pads (my mom made me write this one down).
9. Any juicy bone that you have left over on your plate.
8. The Boyfriend Arm Pillow. Even though this pillow is for lonely girls, I think I can use it to snuggle with when my mom is out and about.
7. A smaller more manly dog carrier bag. Does Jack Spade make a manly dog carrier??
6. A Tini Puppini doll (this is the Maltese's version of a blow up doll and if it looks like Q-Ball even better).
5. A plaid bow tie for small dogs. I think I am of a certain dog age that requires me to wear a bow tie (let's not forget my position as publisher of The Powder Puffington Post).
4. Any dog movie on DVD form (preferably from my "Best Dog Movies" list).
3. Visitors! I love having visitors come over and play with me. If you take me out for a walk or romp in the country, even better!
2. A vacation at a tropical beach with me and my mother. We LOVE this!!
1. Your love and adoration! That is what makes me happiest and it's free! It's a recession proof gift.

That's it for now! Happy Christmas shopping and Chow for now!

I am Powder Puff, hear me woof!

Today's post will be short as my mom is going to take me to Central Park to take some Christmas pictures so stay tuned for some cute pics of me!

My Uncle Adrian sent me some news from England. The BBC is now not going to televise their national dog show which is named "Crufts" as they find that some breeding methods of certain breeds have been deemed cruel as they encourage deformities and diseases by incessant inbreeding. Hooray for the BBC! The Crufts organization would not adhere to the requests the BBC made to exclude some breeds and found the BBC's demands unrealistic.

In "playing God" some breeders have raised pedigree dogs with agonizing physical ailments. For instance King Cavaliers when overbred develop a skull too small for their brains so the dog is in constant pain. My Uncle Adrian tells me I never have to worry about this happening to me. Hey!! Was I just insulted?? Anyway although Q-Ball and I came from a breeder and have pedigree papers we were both lucky to have been bred by a responsible breeder so we were born healthy (hey we cost $2,000 a pop, we better have been born immortal for that price!). Hopefully America will follow suit, but hey we are a little bit behind the times now (that's my Bush!). I never understood why people would want to breed us a certain way as we can be quite cute when we are imperfect (just like you humans). I posted some pictures of what can happen when you humans go a little crazy on us. I will never complain about my short haircuts now that I have seen these pictures!

I will leave you with a video of some cute Christmas gifts: Pug Puppies!! They are from a breeder but they look cute and healthy (nowhere as cute as Q-ball and me but you can't mess with thouands of years of breeding). I do also endorse getting rescue dogs from your local ASPCA. Mom and I are thinking of adopting a sister or brother for me next year from the ASPCA. However we still are in mourning for Q-Ball so right now is not the time.

Here is also a funny homage to popular viral videos from 2008. Well worth the six minutes of your life you will never get back.

Well my mom is done with her French toast (her reward for a hard yoga class). We better go off to Central Park for my photography shoot before she lands in a sugar coma (yes, I know, I lead a glamourous life!). Chow for now!

It's Gossip Friday!

I decided Friday is going to be the day to update The Powder Puffington Post on all gossip matters big and small for those of you who have no time (or if you have a life) to do the proper research. Let's get to our first juicy tidbit:

Sadness :( The iconic Betty Page has passed away at the tender age of 85. What is a girl to do when she outgrows her rebellious Goth phase? She tries her best to emulate Bettie Page's pinup style complete with raven hair, bangs, red lips and retro clothes from Salvation Army (let's not forget the tons of tattoo's that come with this look). Anyway as a male dog I appreciate any bitch with a strong sense of style. She will be missed! Funny little fact about Bettie, after her career as a pinup girl she became a devout "born again Christian", don't they all, don't they all!

Oh the horror! An actor in Vienna, Austria was performing in the play "Mary Stuart" when he went to use the prop knife to slit his throat. However someone had switched it for a real knife and the actor slit his own throat. The audience was impressed with what they thought was great special effects but was actually the actor's own blood. After he did not rise to take a bow his fellow thespians realized what had happened. Luckily the actor missed a major artery otherwise he would have bled to death. He is on the road to recovery and the play went from being a horror to now a mystery as detectives are trying to figure out who switched the knife. Mmmm, me smells a publicity stunt gone wrong here. I'm such a jaded NYC dog!

Stay tune for another "entertainer" with their own fashion line. Kanye West is going to take some time off from producing "high art" to become an intern at Louis Vuitton in London. Just what the world needs, another fashion line by someone who thinks they are the epitome of fashion yet do not want to do any of the real work of what really goes into becoming a fashion designer. Okay, onto the next gossip, I am becoming a little disgruntled today.

Mother Plucker! This is a funny post and it could only happen in Germany. On the TV reality show, "Farmer Gets a Wife", 71 year old Hansi picked 66 year old Marianne as his wife. However Hansi in front of million of viewers proceeded to show his new bride to be how to pleasure a chicken and give them an orgasm! She decided that maybe after all this wasn't the man for her and left him. Don't worry guys, PETA is already on it as they filed a complaint about the molestation of chickens but Hansi's reply was "Hansi is always happy when the chickens are happy.” Hmmm, I wonder if the dogs, cats, pigs and cows on his farm are "happy" too?? Only in Germany!

I was going to recommend movies to see this weekend but except for "Doubt" they all look pretty boring (just like all the other movies this year). Hey, "Australia" is still playing. For the women (and some men) you can lust after Hugh Jackman's manliness and for all others you can see if there is any movement in Nicole Kidman's forehead. A win/win situation if I ever heard one. Since I can't go to the movies, please let me know if you have seen anything I or my mom would be interested in seeing.

I'm going to leave you with a cute video of a hedgehog getting a bath. I didn't know hedgehogs liked to float on their backs but the real funny part of this video is hearing the hedgehog's owner coo after him. She sounds like Jodie Foster in "Nell", Taaa dooo nay nay funnngoo meee!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXjPQYgT25Q&eurl=http://www.dlisted.com/node?page=1&feature=player_embedded

Oh well, for the first time in days, the sun is out so hopefully that means more than a five minute walk for me as I am starting to feel the effects of cabin fever (or "small apartment fever").

Chow for now!

Top Ten Dog Movies of All Time

Because I am not allowed into movie theaters and because most movies sucked this year, I decided to list in my opinion the ten top doggie movies of all time.

10. Beverly Hills Chihuahua: Finally Disney is recognizing that there are more breeds in this world than the Lab or Golden Retriever. We have here a movie on dogs of the third world and all their ridiculous stereotypes. At least it was a money maker for the studio.

9. Bolt: A cute premise for an animated dog film. It's about a Hollywood dog actor that actually believes he is the superhero he portrays on film. In other words, it's Tom Cruise in doggy form.

8. 101 Dalmatians: A Disney Classic which is in true Disney form. While trying to entertain children and their dogs, Disney introduces some dark aspects of humanity, such as Cruella DiVille who wants to skin the puppies for a fur coat. Scary! This is the "Silence of the Lambs" for dogs. I am sure PETA loves this movie!

7. Eight Below: My mom and I cried when we saw this movie. It was about snow dogs who had to be abandoned and fend for themselves in the Artic as their owner tried his best to go back and rescue them. Big claws up!

6. The Adventures of Otis and Milo: Although the pug in this movie (Otis) shares the screen with a tabby cat (Milo) as they lose their way in nature and help each other along, it shows how all creatures have the capacity to live in peace and harmony on this earth (hey, it's the holidays, i'm feeling a bit sentimental!).

5. White Fang: Probably the most complex of all dog movies (and book for that matter), White Fang is adapted from the Jack London novel that my mom says all men loved as a kid and is one of the reasons men love to call their sons "Jack". I like it because it is like the Powder Puffington Post as it gives it's views through the world of the dog and shows how a wild animal eventually becomes civilized in the Yukon Territory of Canada.

4. Cujo: Need I say more! This doesn't show us dogs in a good light, but it really wasn't Cujo's fault that he became rabid. Anyway even without the rabidness I would be terrified of Cujo as he fits my scary dog profile: big and hairy!

3. Lady and the Tramp: This is one of my mommy's and Aunty Lillian's favorite movies as they use to sing the songs when they were little girls. I like it because Q-Ball and I had fun recreating the spaghetti scene. But let's not forget the real message of this movie; dogs with pedigree papers can reproduce with mutts! I wouldn't know that, I was snipped at an early age :(

2. Lassie: Although an American classic, the original Lassie is about a collie separated by his poor English family in the Great Depression and sold to a wealthy nobleman in Scotland (hence the name "Lassie"). Lassie runs away and tries his best to find his way back to his owners (as I would too do if I was sold). It's a tear jerker!

1. Old Yeller: I always get red stains on my white Maltese hair after watching this movie! Yes, it's another attempt of Disney manipulating my sentimental heart but it works! It's basically about the strong bonds that are created when humans and dogs love each other and how loyal we become to one another.

Well, that's my list, you can agree with me or not. Some honorable mentions are:
Best in Show: More about dog owners and how much they love their dogs (however the dogs steal the show).
Marley and Me: Haven't seen it yet but it looks cute, hey you can't go wrong with a White Lab.
The Year of the Dog: Mom and me thought this was a comedy but it was a sad tale of the lost of a dog and the void it can leave in your life.
Chief: Now this is a screenplay by Uncle Adrian that hasn't been made into a movie yet (but it was optioned). It's a wonderful combination of two true dog stories. Although the main character is a mutt, I am hoping when the movie is made to be casted in the lead role with a little help from nepotism and the makeup department. I'm ready for my close up Mr. Spielberg!

Chow for now!

I'm a happy dog, really...

Some dogs use their blog to rant and woof but today I wanted to use the Puffington Post to post on how happy I am. Now I am not like my late sister Q-Ball who was outwardly happy and very affectionate to all who encountered her. I am more timid and shy. I really only get excited when my mom and company comes home, when we are going for a walk, when I get a juicy bone or when I get to chase a squirrel. Otherwise I am quiet and can tend to look a little sad. But really I am happy. I am healthy, I have a mom who loves me and showers me with affection all day (sometimes too much), and family and friends who faun all over me and show me how much I mean to them.

We live in the upper east side, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the world. When my mom and I dress up (those who know me know all the clothes, leashes and accessories I have) and strut down Madison Avenue we giggle as we can hear the tourist say that we most be one of the wealthy Park Avenue peeps. Maybe one day!! We live near Central Park so we have a great place for me to play and get close to nature (although it is also the place where tragedy struck us and Q-Ball died so Central Park is a bitter-sweet place for us). I get to go to these amazing stores with my mom and the sales people are very nice to me (especially Prada and Hermes). I get to go to galleries and see great art and hang around some amazing people.

I also get to travel with my mom. My mother and I share a sense of adventure and we both love to travel. I love to be in a car and watch the road and other cars go by (and if I see another dog to bark at, even the better). Luckily because of my small size I get to go on planes, trains and automobiles. I hope in the future to have even more travels with my mom, maybe South America or Europe?

I am also lucky because I have soooo many aunts and uncles who love me too. My Uncle Adrian, Aunty Annie, Papa Willie, MeMa Silvia, Granddad David, Cousins Ariel and Olivia, Uncle Saad and Uncle Michael, Aunty April and sooo many more. It's so special to be welcomed and loved in this world.

I feel so blessed that I am now even volunteering for special causes. Today please note the photo for the Gordie Foundation. It's a group I belong to promote awareness on deaths from alcohol hazing in American universities. I am wearing the Gordie green bandanna in this picture. For further information please see: www.gordie.org

Anyway I am going to take a nice nap now on this cold, rainy day and when I wake I will chew on that lamb bone my Uncle Adrian made sure I got this pass weekend. I am in love with it. So thank you all for being a part of my life. When people say "it's a dog's life" it is you that make me have this great life. So chow for now!
