Pet Finder Pet of the Week - Billy

We haven't had a Pet Finder Pet of the Week for almost two weeks (although I did tell a woman who was looking for a dog to adopt about it so maybe that counts). So this week we will spotlight Billy the French Bulldog in honor of my new roommate whom I affectionately like to call "Little Bit". So we will spotlight Billy the French Bulldog.

Billy, the lovable stray found in NYC, certainly has a lucky star watching out for him, or maybe it’s the Mickey Mouse face that appears on his back! Billy was found wandering in one of the 5 Boroughs of NYC and ended up in a big, overcrowded NYC shelter. Thankfully, one of our volunteers was able to spring him and arrange foster care for him.

We think Billy is 2-3 years old, but he hasn’t had much in the way of training and still thinks he is a puppy. When he came to us he needed medical attention, and has since had his cherry eyes, nares and palate fixed, as well as the obligatory neutering. He had obviously been without adequate care, as he was very thin; he is still working on gaining weight. His paws were very tender, and it was obvious he had not been walked or taken outside to do his business.

Billy is a big, goofy adolescent frog in need of some training, but the payoff for his forever family will be huge. Billy is full of love and needs someone to share it with. He is diligently working on his housebreaking and is slowly getting the concept. He must be taken out frequently, so someone who is home all day is a must for him. He is crate trained, but will occasionally relieve himself in his crate if the wait to get out is too long. His forever family will have to consistently follow a routine. Like many puppies, Billy will still find ways to amuse himself if left alone, so puppy-proof the house!

Life is one big adventure for Billy, and everything is something waiting to be discovered. From wood chips to his foster mom’s coffee table, nothing escapes Billy’s attention--or his teeth. He is very good at giving big slobbery kisses, playing with his toys and zooming around the house. This guy needs a fenced in yard to burn off his energy, as well as explore the great beyond in. He is quite flexible and would do fine with other animals or kids in the house. Being a big kid himself, he would enjoy some playmates! However, if he is an only he can amuse himself: he has even learned to throw his ball to himself!
Billy is looking for his forever home and hopes that maybe you are it. He is currently enjoying spring in northern NJ. If you are his forever family, plan on visiting our nation's garden state in person, as he will not be shipped.
