Ninio: The Polish Gay Elephant

There is controversy and a pending scandal erupting in the city of Poznan. It seems that the Poznan Zoo recently purchased an elephant. However it seems that the elephant, Ninio, may be gay. A gay elephant? Wow, I can't wait till the GOP hears about this.

Why is this a controversy you ask? The PPP has featured gay zoo animals before so it's definitely not news. Well in Poznan Michal Grzes, a councillor from the right-wing opposition Law and Justice party in the city of Poznan, Poland is outraged that the Poznan Zoo purchased an elephant for 37 million zlotys (approximately $11 million) because the male elephant prefers the company of other males.

Said Grzes: "We were supposed to have a herd, but as Ninio prefers male friends over females how will he produce offspring?"

Russian news agency RIA reports: "Visitors have been flocking to a zoo in the western Polish city of Poznan to catch a glimpse of an elephant, who it is claimed is homosexual, Polish media said. The ten-year-old African Bush elephant, Ninio, has had to change zoos three times in the past five years because of his aggressive behavior toward female elephants, including pushing them into the pool (ah, Ninio is a queen for sure). However his attitude to male elephants is described as 'affectionate.' ... 'He only liked his buddies and hit the cows with his trunk, and was very disrespectful on the whole,' Michal Grzes, the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) deputy for Poznan said."

I don't know what the complaint is. Obviously Ninio has went from elephant to gay cash cow. I bet people were not flocking to the Poznan Zoo before. As for producing offspring why don't they do what gay men do; why don't they just get a grim lesbian elephant so they can go the surrogacy route?

BTW, the zoo's director notes that elephants don't reach sexual maturity until the age of 14. Since Ninio is only 10 years old maybe this is just the equivalent of a boy elephant thinking the girl elephant has "cooties" or he is acting like a jerk frat boy?

Hey what a week for gay rights! First New York State finally starts to introduce legislation to introduce gay marriage in the state and now a gay elephant. It's a brave new world! Chow for now!
